Singapore : Inside Out (SG:IO) returns for its sophomore year with an all-female line up, ready to hit Sydney, Australia.

This partnership with Singapore Tourism Board had its first year running with artists such as Gentle Bones and Charlie Lim to grace stages all the way in New York, London and Beijing.

2017’s acts for the SGMUSO showcase comes with a mix of industry veterans and the latest prominent acts, and all of them have had success in markets beyond our shores.

May Sian Lim, the woman behind MAS1A, is a familiar face in the music scene. Regarded by VICE/Noisey as the Queen of Southeast Asian Hiphop and Raggae, her previous collaborations had her working with the likes of Pharrell Williams, RZA from Wu Tang Clan, Lady Saw and Dub Tonic Kru.

In May 2016, Sam Rui’s track ‘Boys’ exploded on Spotify’s Fresh Finds Playlist, reaching 200,000 play counts within a week.

This showcase will be the first time Sam is performing in Australia. “I’m excited about playing this show in Sydney because it’s always a surreal feeling to see the music I made here in Singapore being able to create an response in an audience so far away. It’s very heartwarming to know that my music and my voice - an intangible thing - can become something that enables me to cross a physical boundary like that,” – Sam Rui, selected artist.

Meanwhile, Linying has gained an international fan base, with great success in Spotify’s Viral Charts and Billboard. Her recent tours have landed her in SXSW Music Festival, Summer Sonic Festival, and other venues in America, Europe, Asia and Australia. This will be her second visit to Australia, following her performances in Melbourne Music Week and Queenscliff Festival in late 2016.

“It’s wonderful to be part of a project that showcases Singaporean music in the context of a foreign landscape; it’s a great opportunity for local artists to get a sense of the music scene elsewhere and personally for me to compare and to observe how different cities within a single country differ in their approach to the arts,” – Linying, selected artist.

Music isn’t the only thing that SG:IO has to offer. Located along Kensington Street from 3 to 5 November 2017, SG:IO is complete with an interactive and exciting line-up that includes surrealistic installations, light projections, films, creative interventions, performances and unique dining activations.

Timbre Music in collaboration with Western Australian Music (WAM) are pleased to announce a joint project, Singapore Western Australian Music (SWAM). SWAM is a cross cultural regional music exchange program which provides 3 Singaporean acts and 3 Western Australian acts the opportunity to travel and perform in Perth and Singapore respectively. The West Australian leg of this project will take place from 6 - 9 November 2013, where 3 Singapore acts will be selected to perform at the prestigious WAM Festival in Perth, Australia. Timbre Music will work with SGMUSO and WAM to manage the selection process for the 3 acts who will be picked to represent Singapore in Western Australia.

The three acts selected were: Charlie Lim, The Sam Willows and Sezairi.

This first-of-its-kind project will be an excellent opportunity for Singapore's top artists/bands to get exposure, experience and network in a potentially powerful regional export market. These acts will get to meet and mingle with Australian agents, artist managers, promoters, label representatives, radio executives and government officials and expand their Australian market reach. The Australian acts will also get to expand their Asian network through their interaction with the Singapore acts, which we hope will lead to future artistic and performance collaborations.
