SONGWRITERS NIGHT #03: TIM DE COTTA x THE WARRIORS & MORE!

A brand new monthly affair at Barbershop by Timbre starting February 2015, Songwriters Night is an intimately curated creative evening by SGMUSO featuring Singapore's established and upcoming singer-songwriters.

Bringing the best of new music to an unplugged and intimate setting, we hope to provide a creative space for singer-songwriters to come together to perform, get to know their community, discuss and exchange ideas and hopefully spur on collaborations musically. Each session will feature an established act along with open mic performers.

Serving up good music, great bites and booze, along with a dollop of culture on the side, each Songwriters Night will be an evening of electric performances and new networks.

BEHIND THE SCENES WITH THRIS TIAN

Behind The Scenes returned in November 2014 with special guest Thristian (Co-founder of Boiler Room/ DJ at NTS Radio) and guest moderator Vanessa Fernandez (Artist, Asst. Program Director of Lush 99.5FM & 987FM).

During this session, Thris tian shares his adventure being one of the original architects of this live streaming phenomenon. They discussed topics pertinent to electronic music, such as programming - how he goes about picking music to feature, what it means to develop as a DJ on 'instinct', how to be a successful electronic artist, etc.

OUR FRIENDS AT BANDWAGON ALSO NOTED SOME VERY USEFUL NUGGETS THEY LEARNT FROM THE SESSION. CHECK OUT THEIR ARTICLE HERE!

SONGWRITERS NIGHT RECAP

Our friend Adam Lyons (Lyon Apprentice/FAIRCHILD, Alumni of Music Matters Live) was in town for a week in October for a songwriting collaboration project with a few Singaporean acts at Beep Studios. At his request, SGMUSO helped to facilitate a couple of side events to open up the opportunity to even more Singaporean musicians to get together, know their community, perform and also encourage cross-collaboration amongst each other locally and internationally.

HERE'S A DOCUMENTATION OF THE WEEK'S EVENTS:

100 BANDS FESTIVAL: SGMUSO PANELS

The 100 BANDS FESTIVAL is a community music festival curated by THE RSC, in collaboration with People's Association's BANG! BANG! WONDERLAND - an Aljunied cluster Arts playground. At this massive party, artists and music-lovers of all kinds gather to celebrate, listen to, learn about, and appreciate local music. Featuring original local music of myriad genres from rock to indie, electronic, and even some soul, there will be musical gems for everyone to discover.

Set in an old bus interchange, the festival aims to escape local music to a greater Singaporean community within an unconventional urban environment. The festival does not stop at just providing great music, however. Festival-goers will also be able to view and purchase the work of local designers and artists, as well as band merchandise, through various booths set up by the likes of Straits Records, Canopus Dangerous Goods and Dunce Distro.
